Oxidation without any doubt is one of the major and perhaps the only source of free radicals in our body. Free radicals certainly put a lot of stress on our healthy cells and there are many contributory factors to it. It could be caused by our lifestyle, our food habits and the environment in which we live in.

Many of us may not be aware of the fact that environmental stress is one of the biggest causes of freed radicals. It is a process where our body starts producing oxygen much faster. This process is referred to as oxidative stress and this result in an imbalance between free radical and antioxidants.

When such an imbalance occurs regular intake of antioxidants helps in fighting such oxidative stress and could also help in our anti-aging efforts.

Symptoms of Oxidative Stress

There are a number of symptoms which could point towards oxidative stress and if left unchecked it could hasten your aging process and also cause a number of neurodegenerative disease and also a few cardiovascular diseases.A few such diseases are:

Supplements for Oxidative Stress Relief

Even if many people use dietary supplements to take in antioxidants, you have to know that this is not the recommended way to bring about oxidative stress relief. Until now there is no clinical proven regarding their beneficial effects. Bellow are the most common supplements which are used by people today:

  • Vitamin A -  Is not recommended for women who are pregnant.
  • Vitamin C – Helps to fight free-radicals. The recommended dosages is around 300 mg/day.
  • Vitamin E -  The recommended dosages is less than 100 mg/day.
  • Slenium – Help avert damage caused by free radicals on a cellular level.

 Remember that antioxidants can help to counteract this oxidative stress and also helps body to defend itself against resultant damage!
